Exposed Firearms Information

Armed Guard Private Protection Training Academy is certified by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) to train in exposed weapons. Our course meets all BSIS requirements for certification and our Range Masters are experienced and safety oriented. Courses are held at the Armed Guard Private Protection Headquarters Classroom and hands on instruction are performed at a private range.

This course is mandatory for a Security Officer to carry an exposed weapon on duty. This course will instruct you in the legal and moral aspects of the use of deadly force. You will be instructed in the basic use of firearms, including loading, unloading, handling, holstering, drawing and firing the required course of fire. If you bring your own weapon you need the weapon a minimum of 100 rounds, holster and good belt.

Live scans available at Sutter County Sheriff’s Department Monday – Friday 8 AM to 4 PM. Classes held every Saturday and Sunday every week of the month. Range days will be held at an outside private range and maybe subject to weather restrictions. Classes must be paid for in advanced. Students are encouraged to bring a baseball hat, sunscreen, ear protection, and eye protection, and water. We will have water at the range for our students to ensure they remain hydrated. We have a large stock of ear and eye protection but they are issued at a first come first serve basis at no fee.

Stage 1
Draw and fire 6 rounds center mass standing at 15 yards – Time limit is a total of 30 seconds to complete this course of fire.

Stage 2
Draw and fire 14 rounds center mass at the target at 7 yards - You will fire 6 standing, 6 kneeling reload and fire 2 rounds kneeling for a total of 14 rounds in 45 seconds.

Stage 3
Draw and fire a total of 6 rounds at 7 yards in 10 seconds any position.

Stage 4
Draw and fire a total of 12 rounds at 7 yards. Including drawing and firing 6 rounds strong hand supported reload and fire 6 rounds week hand unsupported. You have 25 seconds to complete this.

Stage 5
Draw and fire 3 rounds center mass at the target, re-holster on command. Draw and fire 3 rounds center mass at 5 yards for a total of 4 seconds to complete each section of this course of fire.

Stage 6
Draw and fire 2 rounds center mass at the target, re-holster. Draw and fire 2 rounds center mass at the target re-holster. Draw and fire 2 rounds center mass at 3 yards for a total of 4 seconds to complete each section of this course of fire.

Reloading Drill
The reloading drill demonstrates the correct way to reload a firearm for weapon safety.

Drawing Drill
The drawing drill shows the correct way to draw from your holster and the techniques associated with a proper and complete draw for weapon safely.
